9th Annual New Play Competition
a showcase of literary talent
February 10 - 27, 2011

It's the American Idol of Theater!  We're inviting six playwrights to compete for a chance to win $1,000 cash. Audience members vote for their favorite one-act play each night. On closing night, we tally all the votes and award the cash and prizes. It's an unprecedented night of original works.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:  Remuneration:  $1,000 stipend to the winning playwright.  Frequency:  Annual.  Length: 15 - 20 minutes. Style:  Comedy.  Author Must Be: Resident of metro Dallas.  Production:  No more than 4 cast members, no scene changes, mobile set.  Material Must Be:  Unoptioned, unproduced, and unpublished.  Application:  Unsolicited material - full script returned with self-addressed stamped envelope.  Deadline:  Postmarked by 12/1/2010.  Response: 1 - 2 months.

Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare
featuring TeCo's T-An-T (Teenagers and Theater) apprenticeship students

In partnership with the Dallas County Juvenile Department and the Volunteer Center of North Texas Truancy program, TeCo's T-An-T apprenticeship students tackle one of the Shakespeare's most delightful works with explosive performances. Participants are both featured onstage and run the entire show backstage.
